Absent - Present Ratio

In this study, there were 39 women whose fathers were absent from their lives and 64 whose fathers were present. This result was somewhat surprising for the researcher since it was assumed that there would have been more women, even in a small number of 103 participants, who would have been affected by paternal absenteeism. However, although more than half of the daughters in this study had fathers who were present, this does not necessitate that they were lacking knowledge on the subject. In fact, perhaps their experiences with their present fathers allowed for them to be in a position to give their views about what they believe happens when a father is absent from the life of his daughter.
